Artist bio
Acre Tarn is the ravishing electronic project created by Anna-Louisa Etherington, a singer/producer originally from the Lake District.
The emotive, rugged landscape has clearly imprinted itself on an artist that incorporates swirls of jagged, disjointed beats cut into wide and ghostly soundscapes. Rising above the synth tumult sits Anna’s visceral vocals that put Acre Tarn in the excitingly rarified categories of Cocteau Twins, Grimes and Kate Bush.
Already making waves on the blogosphere with previous EP ‘Clasp and Shake’ picking up tastemaker press from INDIE SHUFFLE, EARMILK, WONDERLAND and THE 405 as well as BBC Introducing in Manchester, new release ‘Flex’ confirms Acre Tarn’s truly compelling position in the emerging landscape. The first track from their forthcoming second EP, ‘Flex’ showcases exactly the duo’s sentiment of ‘Music derived from Earth and Machine.’ The vast, rolling synths ominous until they melt into Anna’s hypnotic, celestial vocals creating that delicate balance of pure, enchanting power and industrial melody.
Commencing the ‘Oui Love’ UK tour at Birthdays on October 27th (supporting Saycet and St Lo) and with a Saycet remix incoming, Acre Tarn’s brutally elegant track reasserts the true talent and ingenuity coming from an ever-more breathless and invigorating scene at the moment.
