Artist bio

Johan S the producer behind Rhythm Inc and many over pseudonyms, career goes spans from as far back as 1988 when he as a DJ joined the new Swedish DJ collective and remix team SweMix and released his very first record "Move Sucker" under the pseudonym Hi-Tech-No (thank you StoneBridge for believing in me). The debut track was then followed by numerous remixes for SweMix and in 1991 Johan made the song "Visions Of Rage" by Dragon Fly. The song was an instant club hit, hammered by all top DJ´s of the time and still today considered one of the best hardcore house songs ever made with its pounding beats, atmospheric pads and futuristic bleeps. Johan then dived into the darker drum n bass sounds and continued to build on the success of Dragon Fly with releases for various UK dance labels.

By 1994 Johan decided to go back to his house music roots with fine releases and remixes of Robin S and Sabrina Johnston to name a few. In 1996 Johan teamed up with the UK singer Nevada Cato for the massive gospel house anthem "Soul Rising" which was picked up by Trevor Horn´s cult label ZTT.

In 1998 Johan remixed the Beastie Boys "Hold It Now Hit It" into a massive club hit and the response was phenomenal with instant support by Pete Tong on BBC's Essential Selection. The track led to numerous remix and production jobs for Johan and in 2000 he was asked by Sony BMG to produce a brand new act called Alcazar together with Anders Hansson and Alexander Bard. Johan accepted the challenge and the result was the multi- million selling single "Crying At The Discoteque" which in a clever way fused pop vocals with a classic disco sample from Chic duo Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. After this huge success Johan wanted to go back to more club orientated productions and he so released "DJ Spinnin´" under the alias Punk Chic which was signed to Warner in 2001.

After a long break Johan S is now back in the game, establishing a new label Subtractive Recordings focusing on quality soulful and jacking grooves. Expect more fine house music releases by Johan S/Rhythm Inc and other aliases in the very near future...
