Bird is a name of at least nine acts:

1) A five piece Liverpool, UK atmospheric folk band which combines haunting / poetic lyrics, with melodic and eerie / sweeping guitar riffs. Members include: Adele Emmas (vocals), Christian Sandford (synth, keyboards), Alexis Samata (drums) and Sian Williams (guitar). Their début EP was Shadows (Aug 2012, Jack To Phono) and their latest album is My Fear and Me (May 2014, Jack To Phono).

Other releases include: EP Ophelia (Feb 2013, Jack To Phono), produced by composer / guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones (ex-The Coral).

With a dynamic mixture of power and fragility, they combine hypnotic, tribal drum beats, atmospheric guitars and dreamlike synth-scapes to create the foundation for Emmas' siren-esque vocals and poetry. After continually touring the UK, Bird have gained a large loyal following and garnered praise from: BBC 6music, BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3. They have been invited to play sessions for Bella Union-head Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins) and BBC Radio Merseyside. The Guardian, Q magazine, The Line of Best Fit, Metro, Nylon, NME and Channel 4 have all featured the band. Recent airplay of Led Zeppelin-cover "The Rain Song" (from My Fear and Me), has brought praise from DJs including Lauren Laverne and Janice Long, leading to them opening the inaugural 6 Music Festival 2014's main stage.

2) A pseudonym of Kitayama Yuki (北山有紀, b. 9 Dec 1975, in Japan), one of Japan's biggest names in jazz. Her fusion of jazz, R&B, bossa nova, swing and house has won her a fan-base all on her own. She began doing folk-type music in 2002, but after almost a year of hiatus, her single Warabigami was released. This time Bird went for a reggae feel. With her latest single Sparkles, she has gone back to her jazz roots but has mixed in disco as well. In July 1999, her debut album was released and sold 700,000 copies. Bird was given the Japan Gold Record for newcomers. In October, her first national concert Bird Tour 1999 Live! was sold out. In June 2006 she teamed up with Kama Aina, RT, and Moose Hill to form the unit Tori (Japanese for "bird").

3) A pseudonym of classically trained London, UK, chamber popper and cello player Janie Price. Her début album was "The Insides" (2004, Ice Cream) and her latest is "Girl And A Cello" (22 Jun 2009, Music For Dreams). Price has also released two singles, as Bird: "Falling Like Stars" (2004, Ice Cream) and "Some Boys EP" (24 Aug 2009, Music For Dreams).

4) A Toronto, Canada producer / composer who débuted with La Notte (Jul 2013), which contains "Heaven Can Wait".
Bird is an independent musician, songwriter and producer from Toronto, Canada. He started out working with Canadian hip hop artist Abdominal, when he was asked to executive produce the artists first album “Escape From The Pigeon Hole”. He followed up with work on the Juno nominated “The Book”, by Canadian artist D-Sisive, and the follow-up album “Let The Children Die” which was long listed for the Polarize Prize.

Bird's debut album labeled ʻLa Notteʼ garnered International recognition from Okayplayer, Andy Warhol Magazine, The Monocle, even DJ Maseo of the acclaimed group De La Soul tweeted in support of the single 'Still Shine'. Bird has been interviewed by Exclaim!, NOW magazine, the CBC when his single 'Crazy' was chosen as 'Song of the Week' on the show 'Here and Now', The Grid TO named him as "Ones to Watch" in 2013 and he was also named as one of the 'Top 50 Independent Urban Acts' by UK's Independent Music News.

Aside from his album production, he has also worked as a music producer for the Gemini winning television show “Departures” and the newest spinoff show “Descending”. One of the showʼs creators, Andre Dupuis, collaborated with Bird helping direct two videos off the album ʻLa Notteʼ. With over a quarter-million views on Vimeo and Youtube. Vimeo picked his self directed "The Whole World Knows" as a Vimeo Staff Pick.

Along with the music production and vocals off his debut album, ʻLa Notteʼ features acclaimed artists Little Brother, Odonis Odonis, Abdominal, D-Sisive, Notes To Self, Tanika Charles and more. 'La Notte" is the first release on Lost Metropolis Records. Bird is currently working on his second album.

5) A minority naming of Thai male soloist Thongchai McIntyre, best known as เบิร์ด ธงไชย (aka Bird Thongchai).

6) A trio from Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Since December 2008 Bird plays acoustic songs with a indie-folk character. Music to gaze by, melodies to dream away on or just simple; songs to drink a beer by. It all depends on the weather. Bird follows its own musical ambitions; Making records DIY style and playing at places where the music, in its most basic acoustic and storytelling form, still is appreciated. The music of Bird is often compared to Lou Barlow (Sebadoh), Bonnie Prince Billy and Blackheart Procession.

7) A short-lived alt-country group, featuring Canadian artists Hawksley Workman, Jason Collett, and Andrew Cash. Bird released one album, Chrome Reflection, in 2000.

8) A San Jose grindcore band that blends black metal, doom, and the intensity of 90's hardcore and grind.

9) A Los Angeles, CA, USA rapper who "the short album" with rapper Blu.
